Our theoretical collection is one of the world's largest within the field. It consists of approximately 19,000 volumes of books, journals, and essays on children's and youth literature and related topics. We also have an extensive collection of older newspaper clippings on writers and illustrators.

The theoretical texts are assigned subject headings from our subject headings list for theoretical literature. These terms can be used when searching for theoretical literature in the catalogue.
