Research
The Swedish Institute for Children’s Books strives to both promote and support research on children’s literature. We offer a research environment with access to the institute’s research library, which includes a large collection of Swedish children’s and youth literature as well as one of the world’s largest collections of theoretical literature within the field. We arrange projects, conferences, workshops, and other events. We also publish the only Swedish scholarly journal on children’s and youth literature as well as a monograph series in collaboration with various publishing houses.
Barnboken
Barnboken is Sweden’s only scholarly journal focusing on children’s and youth literature. Since 2010 it is an open access e-journal. All articles published since 2005 are available to read and download free of charge at Barnboken’s website.

Administrating Funds
The Swedish Institute for Children’s Books is one of the higher education institutions and organisations that are approved as administrating organisations by Forte, Formas and Vetenskapsrådet (the Swedish Research Council). This means that researchers have the possibility to apply for funding for research projects based at the institute from these organisations.
If you are interested in carrying out a research project at the Swedish Institute for Children’s Books or have any questions about this, please contact the institute well in advance of submitting your application.
The institute welcomes researchers involved in projects focusing on children’s and youth literature. We also welcome collaborations with universities and university colleges.
