Research
The Swedish Institute for Children’s Books strives to promote and support research related to children’s literature. To aid this research we offer a stimulating research environment that includes access to the institute’s research library, which contains a large collection of Swedish children’s and young adult literature, as well as one of the world’s largest collections of theoretical literature within the field. The institute also arranges conferences and workshops and facilitates several research projects in children’s literature.
We publish the only Swedish academic journal on children’s and young adult literature, Barnboken: Journal of Children’s Literature Research, and collaborate with various publishing houses to produce a monograph series on a variety of areas related to children’s literature.
Administrating Funds
The Swedish Institute for Children’s Books is one of the institutions and organisations approved as fund managers by Forte, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, and the Swedish Research Council. This means that researchers can allocate research projects to the institute when applying for funding from these research financiers.
If you are interested in carrying out a research project at the Swedish Institute for Children’s Books or have any questions about this, please contact the institute well in advance of submitting your application.
The institute welcomes researchers involved in projects focusing on children’s and young adult literature. We also welcome collaborations with universities and university colleges.
Research Services
The institute offers access to a specialized library with a large collection of Swedish children’s and young adult literature, as well as one of the world’s largest theoretical collections in the field. Library staff provide research assistance and other services Tuesday through Thursday.
